More kids on bikes.
That's our goal.
The South Central Indiana Composite MTB is a team of students in
grades 6 - 12 competing in the Indiana Interscholastic Cycling League,
part of the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA).
01
Our MissionWe are a team of co-ed riders representing youth mountain bikers from counties in south central Indiana. We welcome riders of all abilities and skill levels in grades 6 – 12 to join our team and ride with us. Our current team is comprised of male and female athletes representing all skills levels and nearly all grade levels. While we compete with other leagues within the State, racing is optional, not mandatory. There are no tryouts, no cuts and no sitting on the bench. On our team, everyone rides.

Practice makes perfect.
Consistent practice results in improved riding.
But we make it fun too.
02
PracticeWe practice as a team twice a week from the beginning of July until the last race at the end of October. Practices are usually held at Brown County State Park. Occasional practices may occur at other locations from time to time to expose our riders to new trail systems with varied terrain and obstacles.
Feeling interested but not quite ready to commit? Come join us for a practice session and see what you’ve been missing out on. We promise you won’t be disappointed. You might just be convinced to join our team.
Ready. Set. Race.
Once you've raced, you never forget it...
and you never get over it.
03
RacesOur athletes compete against other Indiana League teams at four race events throughout the season. Racing is optional but highly recommended. Remember, racing isn't the challenging part, it's the reward for all the hard work done through practice and training.
The races are full weekend events with activites available to all attendees, not just racers. Riders are grouped into heats based on age and sex and awarded points and prizes based on individual time. The race events are the highlight of the NICA season and a great opportunity to meet new friends, ride new trails and cheer on our student athletes.
2024 Indiana Interscholastic Cycling League Race Series Schedule:

FAQHaving your own equipment is not a requirement to get started. If you think you might be interested, reach out and let us know. We’ll have the gear to get you on the dirt with us.
We welcome everyone. To be a student athlete, the only requirement is being within grades 6 – 12. As a growing team, we are always looking for additional support in the form of volunteers and coaches. If you have the interest, we would love to have you involved.
Absolutely. Many of our athletes participate in other sports and clubs that overlap with our season.
